We need 100 summer volunteers to help us run our Summer Reading Program and its Events. Start your registration here. Registration opens at 5:00p.m. Wednesday April 1st. It closes when we have 100 candidates. Last year, it closed in under 10 minutes!
Here's what you need to register:
- internet access
- Mason Public Library card number
- Teen name, email, phone number, age, current grade
- Parent name, email, phone number
- Where do you live? Mason or Deerfield Township?
The confirmation email will contain more training tasks that must be completed before June 1st, so read it!
You are eligible if you meet all these criteria.
- You are in Grade 6-12 as of April 1, 2026.
- You live in Mason or Deerfield Township.
- You or a parent has a library card here at Mason Public Library.
- You can attend an in person training meeting either afternoon May 9 or evening May 11.
What a volunteer might do:
- register children for Summer Reading
- give Reading Beads and Prize Slips to children
- put children's books back exactly where they belong
- help with crafts, story times, coding, games, chess, a dinosaur tea party, ...
- set up and clean up our programs
- wear a dinosaur costume
- smile and encourage children to read
- select your shifts monthly. First day selection is limited. 24hrs later, you get open scheduling, first come first served
This program helps you build job, communication, and customer service skills while helping the library.
Parents: Please support your teen—but let them schedule, sign up, and communicate themselves.
